POLOKWANE – The Department of Basic Education on August 1 gave the green light for school sport to resume subject to sub-directions and in compliance with social distancing, hygiene and safety measures put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Coaches as well as learners took to the school’s sports fields and courts on August 12 to sharpen their skills ahead of the resumption of matches.
The various rugby and netball teams also had the opportunity to play friendly matches in their respected codes. Visagie said the day formed part of physical education.
“The learners missed playing against each other. The day was an opportunity for them to get out of their classes and exercise. Most of them are unfit and we just wanted them to play with their classmates and have fun. A healthy mind leads to a healthy body and that is what we wanted to achieve on the day.”
