Labour Dept website is ‘security-sensitive’

The Department of Labour says its website is functional despite residents complaining that they have been blocked from accessing the site.

POLOKWANE – UIF spokesperson Makhosonke Butheledzi says the system will automatically block a user if an incorrect password has been entered too many times or if the security questions are answered incorrectly, and that this might be the reason behind customers not being able to use the site.

“This is done in the interest of the client, to prevent any fraudulent activity on their account. We therefore urge clients to safeguard and remember their passwords to prevent their accounts from being blocked. If an account has been blocked you can send an email to ufilingsupport@uif.gov.za.”

He says the website is as a rule very responsive and if any clients found this to be the contrary, it could be ascribed to maintenance updates which are also proactively communicated to clients through the department’s social media platforms.

“The turnaround time for processing normal claims on the website is 15 days, however if there is a delay clients can call the tollfree number.”

Butheledzi says clients can call the toll free number on 080 003 0007 if they face any difficulties with the website or as an alternative way of accessing their benefits.
