SAVF lends a helping hand

SAVF handed out soup to the shelters at Myngenoegen and Ivydale.

POLOKWANE – French chef Auguste Escoffier said: “Soup puts the heart at ease, calms down the violence of hunger, eliminates the tension of the day, and awakens and refines the appetite.”

With this quote in mind, SAVF took the opportunity to lend a helping and caring hand in the cold weather.

Social worker Joyce Sadiki and her team handed out soup to the shelters at Myngenoegen and Ivydale last Thursday.

“Most people who live here are unemployed and they depend on social grants. We decided to run this project ever Thursday and today we managed to help out 55 people and our target was to reach only 30 people,” Sadiki said.

They also provided people with masks, sanitary pads and a booklet for parental guidance and skills for adolescents.

“Thank you to Limpopo Mall management for donating sanitary pads and Checkers for providing vegetables to make the soup,” she concluded.
