Ngobeni continued in the same position after the board’s name changed to Limpopo Tourism and Parks Board in 2014.

He then worked at the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism as a senior manager in the tourism wing.

Ngobeni is known for several programmes in the department such as managing one of the major flagship events of the province, the Limpopo Marula Festival.

He continues to lead major programmes such as the recovery plan to assist the tourism sector get back on its feet again amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ngobeni in his acceptance speech said he is excited to be part of the organisation again.

“I had to familiarise with the programmes that the board has already approved for implementation,” he said.

Ngobeni shared that he is happy with the improvement of the board over the years.

“When you look at the province back then, we were second last in terms of the numbers of arrivals both internationally and domestically. The agency has done great work ever since we established the board way back. We are proud that we have managed to move from second last to first in terms of domestic travel and also second in terms of international arrivals. Anyone coming into this position will be proud to say I would like to maintain the status quo,” he added.

Board chairperson Andrew Dipela is optimistic that the inclusion of Ngobeni in the executive management role will go a long way in bringing stability to the agency.

“We are excited to have agreed with Moses Ngobeni to help stabilise the agency until the process of reconfiguration of state-owned agencies is completed. Moses brings with him impeccable experience which will help us promote the province better and efficiently,” said Dipela.
