Former Mayor of Polokwane, Thembi Nkadimeng's farewell message to the people of Polokwane.

POLOKWANE – The former Mayor of Polokwane, Thembi Nkadimeng says she will proudly walk out of office knowing people embraced her and welcomed her with open arms.

Nkadimeng was announced as the Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) during President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet reshuffle last Thursday.

During a farewell message to the people of Polokwane, Nkadimeng said she had mixed feelings about leaving her position as mayor and parting ways with Limpopo government.

“I often say to people that my first encounter with local government was me coming to work at the Polokwane Municipality.

So all that I know today, I was taught by you, and through that many developments in local government happened,” she said. Nkadimeng said she is thankful for the lessons learnt during her time as mayor.

“I might have disappointed some people with the decisions I made, but it’s now time for us to let all that go.

I carry beautiful memories in my heart that I shared with all of you, that have taught me a thing or two, which I will cherish and take with me.

To all of you from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I know you’re capable men and women, and I have no doubt that Polokwane will continue to grow.

I wish all of you a very good time as I leave,” Nkadimeng said.
