Mediclinic assists govt with vaccinations

Limpopo Mediclinic currently assists government with the vaccinations of government officials, and will soon open to the general public.

POLOKWANE – Traffic officers were the first to be vaccinated as Limpopo Mediclinic joined the national rollout of Covid-19 vaccinations on July 30.

The patient experience manager at the hospital, Istha McMillan, said the centre is more than willing to assist with the vaccinations in order to shorten the queues elsewhere.

“We are assisting government with the vaccinations of government officials, and soon we will communicate progress in terms of when the centre will be open to the general public to be vaccinated.”

The Limpopo Mediclinic vaccination site currently operate by appointment from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.

Health spokesperson Neil Shikwambana added that vaccination sites that are open to the public within the Capricorn District currently include Mankweng Hospital, Pietersburg Provincial Hospital, Seshego Hospital, WF Knobel Hospital in Moletjie, Thabamoopo Hospital in Lebowakgomo and Botlokwa Hospital.

The department also conducted an outreach programme during which The Ranch Resort outside the city on Monday served as a vaccination site.

Farm workers in the area were encouraged to make use of this vaccination opportunity.

“We also do vaccination outreach programmes where we conduct mobile visits in the rural areas to reach those citizens who can’t travel far,” Shikwambana said.
