Local business association urges shop owners to beef up security

The chairperson for the Central Business District Business Association, Hamid Salman, has urged mall managers and business owners with access to private security to increase deployment overnight.

POLOKWANE –  An urgent message was sent out by the Central Business District Business Association this evening urging business owners, residents to be vigilant.  This after information was received indicating that protestors might target malls overnight.

This planned action is presumably linked to the ‘Free Zuma’ campaign which has seen businesses and trucks looted, property and infrastructure destroyed throughout the county, mainly in KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng, this past week.

Chairperson for the association Hamid Salman has told the Polokwane Review that shop owners might be vulnerable overnight. “We patrolled the areas this afternoon to make sure no looting takes place.”

Salman urged those with access to private security to increase deployment overnight. “Mall managers and business owners in other parts of the city however, need to ensure they have adequate security. ”

He says any suspicious movement should be reported to the police.
