LISTEN: Situation in Seshego calm following earlier disruptions

Police and local stakeholders are monitoring the area following earlier shop closures.

POLOKWANE – Police and local stakeholders were summoned to the Seshego Circle Centre on Monday morning due to threats of violence in the area.

According to reports a group of disgruntled residents gathered at the centre this morning calling for residents to join the Free-Zuma campaign.  Businesses owners locked their doors and shoppers returned home amid the chaos.

Local stakeholders have since announced that the situation is calm and businesses have reopened.

The spokesperson for the Central Business District Business Association, Ali Salman has also confirmed that the station in Seshego is under control.

“There is no strike and the police and local stakeholders are monitoring the area.”

Members of the Community Policing Form have warned the public against the spreading of mis- and false information regarding these incidents.

They also indicated that patrols are also being conducted in the central business district amid reports of shops closures.
