Eskom warns about load-shedding amid cold conditions

The South African Weather Service said wet, windy and cold conditions are expected in some parts of the country this week.

POLOKWANE – The power utility, Eskom has urged the public to help reduce electricity usage, in order to ease pressure on their systems.

Eskom made this plea in a statement following reports from the South African Weather Service that wet, windy and cold conditions are expected in some parts of the country this week.

“Eskom has not implemented load-shedding since June 13, due to some improvement in the performance of the generation fleet. The system is currently performing relatively well, however, the cold front will increase the demand for electricity, thereby putting pressure on the power system,” their statement reads.
