[VIDEO] Police members line up to be vaccinated in Polokwane

The Covid-19 vaccination programme of SAPS members in Polokwane saw 250 officials vaccinated.

POLOKWANE – Staff attached to the South African Police Service (SAPS) lined-up on Thursday, July 8 to receive the Covid-19 vaccinations at the former Polokwane cluster offices in Bendor.

The Covid-19 vaccination programme of SAPS members was officiated by Transport and Community Safety MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya and the provincial police commissioner Lt Genl Thembi Hadebe.Lerule-Ramakhanya.

“I am elated by the programme to vaccinate our frontliners who have been at the forefront enforcing compliance since March last year. We are hopeful that the programme will go as planned and as a country we reach herd immunity soon,” Lerule-Ramakhanya said.

The launch started with the vaccination of 250 officials with Hadebe among the first group of police officers and SAPS personnel to be vaccinated.

14 sites have been identified in the province as vaccination hubs with the vaccination in the other districts to commence on Tuesday next week. The roll-out is expected to run for 10 days.

She urged the general pubic to cooperate with law enforcers and play their part in the fight against the deadly pandemic. “I encourage all officers and admin personnel to vaccinate,” she concluded.
