Woman’s body found in bushes, police search for relatives

The body of the unidentified woman was found near Dengeza village in a pool of blood, says the police.

LIMPOPO – The police in Giyani are appealing to the community to assist in locating the relatives of a woman whose body was found in a pool of blood.

The body of the unidentified woman was found in the brush on the outskirts of Dengeza village at around 10:00 on Saturday, July 3, said police spokesperson, Brig MOtlafela Mojapelo.

“The victim’s body was reportedly found by women who were busy collecting firewood in the area. The police and emergency medical services were alerted and both arrived on the scene to find the body of woman lying in a pool of blood.”

The victim had sustained an open wound to the head and was certified dead at the scene by EMS workers, he added.

The unidentified woman was wearing a green T-Shirt with the words “Bandela Burial society”, a blue skirt and brown shoes.

“The police are appealing to anyone with information can assist in locating the family of the deceased as well as information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) involved, to contact Capt Khazamula Makhubele on 082 729 0327.”

He added that the motive for the killing is not known at this stage but then gender-based violence and/or domestic violence cannot be ruled out.

A case of murder has been opened.

Provincial police commissioner Lt Genl Thembi Hadebe has ordered a full investigations into the incident with a view of speedily bringing the perpetrator(s) to book.
