[WATCH] Fire department at scene of house fire in Polokwane

Local authorities and firefighters are still at the scene of a house fire in the central business district. Review journalist spoke to the owner of the house.

POLOKWANE – A fire and rescue team has been dispatched to a house that caught fire in the city.

The owner of the residential property, who chose to remain anonymous, says he received a call from a tenant, alerting him of the fire that broke out in a room that is located behind the main building.
The man says the cause of the fire has not been determined yet but he believes it might be children who were left unattended in one of the rooms that might have forgotten to blow out a candle or switch off a gas appliance.

He confirmed to Review that no one had been harmed in the fire. “Fortunately no one was harmed but four shacks are burning down which will leave their occupants without a home or any belongings.”

The property is used as housing as well as for a workshop.

The fire and rescue team is still at the scene.
