[TAKE NOTE] Areas to be affected by planned power outage

Eskom has announced an eight-hour planned power outage for some parts of the Polokwane municipal area.

POLOKWANE – Multiple areas will be affected by a planned power outage on Tuesday, July 13.

In a statement, municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said the power utility Eskom notified them that the outage will affect the municipality’s Alpha substation.

“The outage is planned from 08:00 to 16:00 for maintenance by Eskom. Electricity supply will be restored once Eskom is done with the maintenance. Affected areas are advised to treat all electrical wiring as live during downtime and to switch off all appliances to avoid injury and damage once supply is restored,” he explained.

  • Place of Safety
  • Sterkloop plots

“All users are urged to use electricity wisely. The municipality advises all to report electricity challenges to the municipal helpline on 015 023 5000, electrical call centre on 015 023 5490 / 5707 or WhatsApp on 083 824 9886,” Selala added.

He urged residents to report suspicious activity on electricity infrastructure, including cable theft and vandalism, to the Polokwane Municipality’s Law Enforcement Services on 015 023 5484, Eskom Toll Free Crime Line on 0800 11 27 22 or SAPS on 10111.
