Northern Academy learner, Tharallo laid to rest

Gr 12 learner, Tharollo Modula was one of the school's top performing learners and a member of the prefects and debate team.

POLOKWANE – Learners, friends and family members of Tharollo Modula, a Gr 12 learner at Northern Academy gathered at the Mankweng cemetery on Saturday to bid farewell to the 17-year-old who died of cardiac arrest two weeks ago.

Tharollo was one of the school’s top performing learners and a member of the prefects and debate team.

Connie van der Merwe, senior phase head at the school described Tharollo as a vibrant, exciting young man who had a bright future ahead of him.

“He was an amazing human being and his character was larger than life. He was involved in everything and he was loved by everybody. We want to thank him for all his contributions at the school. We will miss him forever.”

Executive Head of the school, Chris Jansen van Rensburg said Tharollo will never be forgotten.

” The Lord has his ways and we need to trust him. We need to follow his plan. We feel the pain, but we are celebrating his life.”

Thembi Modula, Tharollo’s mother, said her son had aspirations of becoming a commercial lawyer and television presenter. “He was an ambitious young man with a bubbly personality. He was everything to me. He was my best friend and companion. We used to do everything together, house chores, academic work and shopping. I just have to trust the Lord, he knows what He is doing.”

Tharollo was born on 27 March 2004 and is survived by his loving parents, Thembi and Daniel and his older brother Mpho.
