The number has now increased to 11, following an incident on the R37’s Roodepoort turn-off in the Capricorn district.
The Transport Department’s media liaison officer, Mike Maringa, told Review that it is believed the driver of a sedan lost control of his vehicle.
“The vehicle hit a tree and the driver and one passenger were killed. Another passenger sustained serious injuries,” he explained.
Maringa said speeding has been cited as a possible cause of the incident.
