[WATCH] Polokwane man gives ‘get your head out of the gutter’ a literal meaning

A man was freed from a steel gutter downpipe at the Polokwane Municipality's Visitor Information Centre earlier today.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Fire and Rescue Team, earlier today (Friday) freed a man who was stuck in a steel gutter downpipe at the Visitor Information Centre. The man had been stuck for hours, according to municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selala.

“The Fire and Rescue team managed to free him through the use of jaws of life. The man is currently receiving medical attention,” he added. Selala told Polokwane Review that they do not yet know why the man was stuck in the gutter.

“The security guards heard a noise and then found the man in the gutter. The team have been unable to establish why this happened, as the man was taken to hospital via an ambulance,” he explained. Selala said the municipality will investigate the matter.

“The municipality urges all to avoid tampering with municipal facilities, in particular electricity, water and stormwater infrastructure,” he concluded.
