Zurel Bros SA gets creative with a scrap metal art competition

Zurel Bros SA, an education and training academy, recently hosted a scrap metal art competition where teams used scrap metal to produce pieces of art.

POLOKWANE – The teams had to consist of at least one apprentice from each trade, namely goldsmith, mechanical fitter, welder and electrician. Every apprentice had to incorporate and show a component of their trade in the artwork.

One of the students, Siphosethu Nxumalo was grateful for the experience. “Thanks to Zurel for giving me this opportunity to be part of their amazing programme. I am an artisan studying for a welder,” he said.

There were 3 prizes worth R10 000, R5 000 and R2 500 respectively.

The first prize winners of R10 000 are Kgaugelo Mahlagauma, Martin Mathonsi and Lefa Serage.

Gudani Makhanikhe, Siphosethu Nathi Nxumalo, Malope Phineas Mafetsa and Tshepo Mastsha won the second prize.

The second prize winners of R5 000 are Gudani Makhanikhe, Siphosethu Nathi Nxumalo, Malope Phineas Mafetsa and Tshepo Mastsha.

Molefe William Mothiba, Matlou Jacob Mashiane, Armand Cronje and Karabo Lepheane won the third prize.

The third prize winners of R2 500 are Armand Cronje, Molefe William Mothiba, Matlou Jacob Mashiane and Karabo Lepheane.
