LIMPOPO – Three people are dead and five others injured after two vehicles collided head-on along the N1-28 north of Polokwane on Wednesday, 2 June.
The incident involved two hatchbacks and happened near Ga-Phasha at 12:00.
Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala said the vehicles collided head-on after one driver overtook on the barrier line.
“The 38-year-old driver and two male passengers, aged 42 and 45, died on the scene. Five other people including a driver sustained moderate to minor injuries,” he explained.
The injured were taken to the Botlokwa Hospital for medical treatment.
A case of reckless driving has been opened at the Sekgosese Police Station.
The road is partially closed with one lane open.
