Limpopo residents ‘shake’ their way to R100K

Two residents of Limpopo have won R100 000 each, thanks to Vodacom's VodaBucks rewards.

LIMPOPO – For two lucky Vodacom customers, R100 000 was only a few shakes away.

The two; Michael Sakuneka (Tzaneen)  and John Semenya (Lephalale), were handed over their cheques at the Vodacom regional office on Friday.

Vodacom gives away R100 000 every month and Sakuneka was March’s winner, while Semenya was April’s winner.

John Semenya (winner), Lelethu Nkula (Vodacom Executive Head Consumer Business Unit) and Imran Khan (Vodacom Limpopo Regional Manager).

Vodacom Limpopo Regional Manager, Imran Khan said the winners were part of the VodaBucks reward programme.

“Customers earn VodaBucks when they buy airtime, data or use the Vodacom app to pay their bills. We give quite comprehensive rewards and those rewards work as a currency, which customers can use to procure more airtime, data, or other products and services that we have available. Both of them used the USSD platform to gain rewards,” he explained.

Khan said the gesture comes at a time where people struggle a lot.

“Many of our customers are going through tough times economically because of Covid-19, and I know this amount will not only change their lives, but even the lives of their families as well as their communities,” added Khan.

He said Sakuneka and Semenya are not the first winners from the region. “We have had multiple winners. Vodacom Limpopo encourages every Vodacom customer to shake and continue to earn VodaBucks. Bank your VodaBucks and make sure you spend your bucks to increase the chance to be a potential winner,” he explained.

Khan said there are scammers out there, and advised people who have been notified that they have won, to contact the regional office.

“This is to make sure that you are indeed a winner and that no one is scamming you,” he added.

Semenya said when he received a call from Vodacom, to say that he won R 100 000, he did not believe it at first.

“I shake every day and most of the time I win data, but on this day, my luck was in and I won R100 000. I consider myself the luckiest person on earth. I am going to invest the money in my children’s education, pay my debt, and finish building my house,” concluded Semenya.
