6-hour water shutdown planned for Thursday, LNW confirms

The shutdown of the Ebenezer water scheme will enable the team from Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) to investigate reported illegal connections along the main pipeline to Polokwane.

A six-hour shutdown at the Ebenezer water scheme is set to take place later this week.

Thipa Selala, Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality says Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) this morning confirmed a date for the planned water supply shutdown of the Ebenezer Scheme.”

LNW confirmed that on Thursday, 3 June, water will be turned off from 08:00 to 14:00 to allow the water team to investigate reported illegal connections along the main pipeline near Boyne.

The shutdown will affect water supply to the areas of Segwashi to Mankweng, Polokwane and Seshego.

He added that water supply will be restored to all affected areas once the LNW team completes repairs.

This shutdown will come at a time when most areas within the municipal area face water supply issues. On Saturday the municipality listed all the areas affected and urged residents who don’t fall in these areas and are experiencing water supply issues to report it immediately.

Selala added that the municipality will continue to deploy water tankers to the affected areas. He further encourages residents in areas that are not covered on the above list but experiencing supply challenge are urged to report it to the municipal call centre on 015 023 5000.

Report water supply issues, leaks and burst pipes can also be reported to he water and sanitation helpline on 015 023 5376 / 5629.
