POLOKWANE – Awards are aimed at motivating underperforming students to start working hard to produce good results, according to Joseph Ntsiene Masekela.

The Principal of Flora Park Comprehensive High School spoke to Review when the school awarded their Gr 12 learners for their hard work during the first term. Masekela said the awards are part of the school’s mission to be one of the top five schools in the district.

“The learners, who received the awards, do not need the motivation as they have already shown that they are motivated.

We need to get through to the other learners because to achieve a 100% pass rate, the work starts in term one,” he explained.

Masekela thanked all the teachers for their commitment towards quality results and urged them to continue to work as hard as they have, so that the school can transform into a centre for excellence.

Masekela further thanked Tshilidzi Mukwevho, a parent who donated R2 000, to be divided between the four school terms and award the top learner every term.

“The top learner will receive R500 sponsored by Mukwevho, and we wish to encourage other parents to do the same.

This will motivate our learners to work harder,” he concluded.
