Olifantspoort plant stops pumping due to leaks on main pipeline
Reservoirs have not yet recovered from low levels and residents are urged to use water sparingly.
POLOKWANE – Residents living within the Polokwane Municipality are hereby notified of yet another water stoppage due to leaks along main water supply lines.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Polokwane Municipality says pumping at the Olifantspoort plant will be stopped to allow Lepelle Northern Water to fix leaks along the specon pipeline.
Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala says LNW notified the municipality that the repairs to the specon pipeline will take approximately six hours to complete.
Areas affected include; Ga-Chuene to Polokwane and Seshego.
Selala reminds residents that once the repairs have been completed and pumping to the municipal area is restored,water supply will “still take some time to reach all affected areas”.

The municipality concludes that reservoir levels are still low therefore residents in the areas receiving water supply must use water sparingly.
