LIMPOPO – Phase 2 of the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine in Limpopo was officiated by Limpopo Premier, Chupu Mathabatha, together with Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba at the Mokopane Hospital on Monday, 17 May. Mathabatha and his wife, Maggie, were among the first to take the shot as part of a group of citizens aged 60 years and above.
*Video snippets taken from the Department of Health (BOPHELONG) Facebook page In a statement, Departmental Spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana, said Phase 2 is aimed at “protecting the population against the SARS-Cov-2 virus, by interrupting transmission through achievement of herd immunity and reducing the morbidity and mortality caused by Covid-19”.
The Pfizer vaccine will be administered to those who have successfully registered through the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS) self-enrolment platform.
What is needed to register:
- Access to the internet on any device (cellphone, laptop, tablet, desktop etc.)
- Your ID or passport number (non-RSA), general contact information (your cellphone number will be used as the primary mode of communication).
- Information about your employment (primary employer and location of work)
- Where relevant, your professional registration details, and medical aid are also requested.
- With all information at hand, registration should take approximately 2—3 minutes (three steps)
