POLOKWANE – The case against a 23-year-old man, accused of the murder of Joyce Monareng, was postponed to Tuesday, 13 April.

Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the suspect appeared in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court last week for bail application. “The case was postponed to Tuesday for bail application and further police investigations.”

The 50 year-old estate agent and gospel singer from Polokwane was attacked by an unknown assailant while in her vehicle in Seshego, Zone 8 on 14 October. She sustained multiple stab wounds during the incident and was certified dead on the scene.

In November the police offered a R100 000 monetary reward for information that could assist the police in the murder investigation. The suspect was arrested in Moletjie on 1 December. He was found in the possession of the deceased’s stolen items and was charged on counts of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

He first appeared in court on 3 December and has been in custody ever since. Last week, residents gathered outside the courtroom in support of the Monareng family.

They stood in unison and called for justice to take it’s course.
