[WATCH] Goods worth R4 mil robbed from government department in Polokwane

Four armed men accosted the two security guards on duty.

POLOKWANE – A case of business robbery has been opened following an incident at the Limpopo Department of Rural Development, according to Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo,

Mojapelo explained in a statement that the department, situated at the corner of Schoeman and Jorrison streets, was burgled on Tuesday, 7 April at around 03:00.

“Two security guards were reportedly on duty when about four armed men accosted them. The men reportedly tied them up and locked them in one of the rooms before proceeding to the offices of the director,” Mojapelo explained.

The robbers then loaded 185 laptops, valued at over R4 million, onto trolleys and fled the scene in a dark bakkie.

“The police in Polokwane are seeking information that can lead to the arrests of the suspects and the recovery of the laptops. Anyone with information or will be able to identify the people and the vehicle in the videos, is requested to contact Sergt Maphutha Ngoepe at 082 685 9507 or Col Linkie Mathebula at 064 756 8218.
