Pipeline leaks lead to water supply interruptions

Polokwane, Mankweng, Seshego and Boyne will be affected by the interruption, says the Polokwane Municipality.

POLOKWANE – Lepelle Northern Water have notified the Polokwane Municipality that their team is currently repairing leaks along two water pipelines in the vicinity of Makgene village.

“Water supply from Rusfontein reservoir outlets have been closed and water supply to the Polokwane Municipality has been stopped.

“Repairs are expected to take an estimated 4 to 5 hours and water is being accumulated into Rusfontein reservoirs to avoid extended water supply interruptions to Polokwane during the period of repairs,” LNW said in a communication addressed to the municipality.

Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala says the repairs will interrupt water supply to Polokwane Municipality’s supply areas which include Boyne, Mankweng, Polokwane to Seshego and all village distribution networks. “The municipality will monitor the situation and provide regular updates and water tankers to affected areas where needed,” he concluded. Water supply issues can be reported to the helpline at 015 023 5376 / 5629.
