‘No improvement’ in reservoir levels

The Polokwane Municipality says reservoir levels within the municipality have shown no improvements since Wednesday.

POLOKWANE – As of this morning; Potgieter, Seshego, Krugersburg Dome and Flat reservoirs are all at 0% while
Ivydale is at 5%.

Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala indicated in a statement that the reservoir levels within the municipality have shown no improvements since Wednesday.

Selala said Lepelle Northern Water encountered several problems on the Olifantspoort line, which resulted in a stoppage at the plant.

“The stoppage was for more than 24 hours and, in addition to the challenges on the Olifantspoort line, LNW’s Ebenezer plant experienced a power failure,” he explained.

Selala said the power failure at their Ebenezer plant caused a supply shortage to Polokwane.

“LNW completed their repairs yesterday, however, they warned that it will still take some time before water supply reaches all affected areas,” Selala added.

He said water tankers will continue to provide temporary relief to areas who are affected.

“The Polokwane Municipality urges areas receiving supply to use water sparingly in an effort to improve reservoir levels, so that all can receive water. Residents can report any water-related challenges such as leaks, burst pipes and supply shortages to the Municipal Water and Sanitation helpline at 015 023 5376 / 5629,” he concluded.
