A witness testified during the bail proceedings that the 34-year-old woman, who is said to be the brain behind an apparent hit on Mudau, had two identity documents. The witness explained that the suspect changed her surname to Mudau after the man’s death.

Mudau’s mother, Tshinakaho Mudau (82), said she was happy that the woman and her co-accused were denied bail, as they thought them dangerous.

During a previous appearance in court, the other two accused abandoned their bail applications, after their legal representatives had withdrawn from the case.

Initially, four men were hired by the woman to kill Mudau. They shot and killed him in front of the gate of his house on 14 February 2019. Later, one of the suspects demanded more money for the job done, and the woman instructed that he be killed. The four suspects remain in police custody and the case was postponed to 14 May.
