[UPDATE] Road open following collision on R101

The R101 between Shell Ultra City and the Ranch Hotel is open, following a fatal incident earlier.

The R101 between Shell Ultra City and the Ranch Hotel is open, confirmed Mike Maringa, the Transport Department’s Media Liaison Officer.

Maringa said fatigue and unsafe overtaking could be the possible cause of the crash.

“Of the two people rushed to hospital, one is critical and the other one is seriously injured. The deceased are two males and a female,” he concluded.

The R101 between Shell Ultra City and the Ranch Hotel is temporarily closed, following a fatal incident earlier.

Mike Maringa, the Transport Department’s Media Liaison Officer, said three people died in a crash between a truck and a 22 seater Iveco.

“Motorists are advised to use the N1 between Mokopane and Polokwane,” Maringa said.

Both drivers were certified dead and two other passengers were rushed to hospital, according to Maringa.
