Fundraiser to benefit TLC ward

Alice Tutors in Westenburg hosted a charity drive with Nirvana Primary School to raise toys and holistic learning material for children living and fighting cancer at the Cansa TLC Paediatric Oncology ward.

The official handover of the goods was done by Rasheedah Matsombe, who is the founder of Alice Tutors on Monday, 15 March at the learning centre to Bobby Were, coordinator at the TLC ward.

“This donation is a one-of-a-kind in the sense that it will help to not only keep the children entertained during their stay at the hospital but also help to develop healthy physical and emotional well-being. The school has been doing amazing community work which goes a long way in helping to better the lives of those in need. Their efforts are amazing and truly a blessing,” Bobby said.

Rasheeda said one of their mottos is to help the helpless.

“We wanted to help the hospital to help the children as they are fighting one of the biggest battles that one can fight. We started last year with small projects and this year, we wanted to help with the holistic as well as social development of the children, as they miss out on school or rather learning because they wre in the hospital most of the time.”

This, however, does not mean the children cannot learn, which is why they asked for donations in the form of educational toys, school learning materials and so forth so that they too can lead a normal life,” Rasheeda said.
