Sharing a taste of the world

It was a culinary experience at Goseame Fresh Produce Market over the weekend.

An International Food Expo hosted by chef, Sebula Christoph Sebusi brought tastes from around the globe to the people of Polokwane through this initiative.

Chef Chris explained that as the ambassador of Goseame Fresh Produce Open Market, he wanted to showcase the exquisite meals that can be created from simple and fresh ingredients that can be found in store.

“We wanted to give customers a taste of the flavours of American, with a chicken burgers served with a baja salad,” he said.

He explained that he wanted people to be able to make their own healthy meals taking into consideration availability of ingredients. He gave a step-by-step demonstration on how to make the burgers.

He explained that it is important to have such events in Polokwane because we are a somewhat rural city and the people with the expertise of such delicacies tend to move away after they have acquired their skills to use it elsewhere. He spent over a year in the United States, exploring the various cultures and religions’ connection to food.

“The main objective is to bring a combination of other countries to South Africa and give them a local flair. As much as South Africa wants the world, the world wants a piece of South Africa,” he said.
