[VIDEO] ‘One student, one laptop’ – Locals join #NationalShutdown campaign

Dombo Zwanga, Provincial EFFSC Convener told Review that they will continue with the protests until their demands have been met.

POLOKWANE – The #NationalShutdown is a movement by the South African Union of Students (SAUS) who are calling for higher education students to shutdown campuses until their demands made to the Department of Higher Educational and Training (DHET) are met.

There are currently students from 26 universities across the country that are supporting the movement, with most calling for no academic or financial exclusion.

Members of the EFF Students Command shut down the Capricorn TVET College Seshego campus on Monday, 15 March. Today the students marched thought the streets in the city to raise awareness to their plight.

EFFSC National president Mandla Shikwambana addressed the crowd of protesters and called for each student to be equipped with a laptop, among other things.

Dombo Zwanga, Provincial EFFSC Convener told Review that they will continue with the protests until their demands have been met.
