The man becomes the second big jackpot winner from Limpopo within the first three months of this year.

LIMPOPO – A father of three has claimed his R43 million PowerBall Plus jackpot winnings, from the draw on Friday, 5 March.

According to the National Lottery Operator, Ithuba, the man purchased his winning lottery ticket via the Nedbank Banking App with a ticket wager of R22,50.

“The winner used a QuickPick selection method and told Ithuba that he was planning to involve his family in matters of his new fortunes,” a statement read.

The man said he and his father own a family business and that some of his winnings will go towards expanding and growing the company.

“This will also allow me to create jobs within my community,” the man added.

The winner said the magnitude of his winnings are beyond what he has ever dreamt of.

“This is honestly something I never expected.”

Ithuba CEO, Charmaine Mabuza said their partnerships with banks are yielding positive results.

“We are happy to announce another banking app jackpot winner. Since 2015, over R1,3 billion in winnings has been paid to banking channel winners. Our innovation is always motivated by our players and we want to offer them as much convenience as possible. The partnership with banks provides our players with the convenience of playing Lottery games from anywhere, anytime on trusted platforms of their choice,” said Mabuza.

The father of three added that quality education is important to him and that he plans on saving a portion of his winnings to afford his children the chance to attend university and make their dreams a reality.

The man becomes the second big jackpot winner from Limpopo within the first three months of this year, following the R51 million PowerBall winner from the 2 March draw.
