[LISTEN] Body of woman found after vehicle is swept away

The body of the 37-year-old woman was discovered 3km away from her badly damaged vehicle.

LIMPOPO –  Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Search and Rescue team recovered the body of a Thohoyandou woman on Tuesday, whose vehicle was swept away while crossing a flooded river on Monday morning.

The 37-year-old woman, who is a resident of Vuvha village was travelling back home after dropping off her daughter at the main road, when her vehicle got trapped in the flooding waters of the Mudzinga River and was swept away.

In a statement, Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says people who witnessed the incident immediately notified the police and a search operation was launched until the deceased’s vehicle was found trapped in the vegetation along the bank of the river.

He added that the deceased’s body was retrieved around 3km from the vehicle.
