Woman arrested for murdering boyfriend in Ebenezer

The 27-year-old woman reportedly stabbed the 41-year-old man following an argument.

LIMPOPO – A 27-year-old woman will appear in the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 February, following her arrest this morning.

Haenertsburg police arrested the woman for the murder of her boyfriend (41) at a farm in the Ebenezer area.

“The deceased was allegedly inside the room with his girlfriend at a compound when they had an argument. Unexpectedly, the suspect produced a sharp object and stabbed him,” reads a statement by Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The man managed to escape the room and screamed for help when he fell on the ground and succumbed to his injuries.

“The local community heard someone screaming and came out of their houses and found the deceased lying in a pool of blood. The suspect was overpowered by one of the community members and the instrument, used to commit the murder, was also confiscated,” Ngoepe explained.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene.

“The man was certified dead at the scene and the suspect was arrested immediately. The motive behind this incident is believed to be domestic violence,” he added.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba condemned the incident with the strongest terms.

He advised members of the community to consult with their local professionals in case of any social related problem rather than resorting to violence.

Police investigations are still ongoing, Ngoepe concluded.
