Sports car lover builds his dream car from scraps

21-year-old Mukundi Molovhele says his dream is to study Engineering and related Design and design his own sports car brand.

LIMPOPO – The 21-year-old Mukundi Molovhele from Tshipise Tsha Sagole designed and built his own ‘Lamborghini’.

Molovhele collects scrap metals in his village and uses them to build his dream car, and only needs a 250cc motorbike engine and a windscreen to finish the job. He says his inspiration is fueled by his love of sports cars.

“I am good at designing cars and know that I will one day create a car that has never been seen before. My dream is to design more sports cars of my choice and have my own brand. I started building this car in 2017, but it took some time to finish it due to a lack of scrap metals. I also had to focus on my studies, but got enough time to concentrate on the car during the lockdown period,” said Malovhele.

The Lamborghini will have a 250cc engine, because it is easier to install, giving the car a maximum speed of 70 km/h.

“My love of cars started at an early age, when I helped my father on his farm. Fixing the broken machinery helped me to realise my dreams. Anyone who is willing to support me in my dream is welcome to do so wherever they can,” he said.

He told CV that he wants to enroll at one of the TVET Colleges in Pretoria to study Engineering and related Design. “I would like the South African community to help me to achieve my goal of designing cars. I already have a new design that I would like to create once I have the money for it. This design will be an original one under my own name.” he concludes.
