LIMPOPO – Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe has revealed more information about a robbery that occurred at the house of one of the municipal mayors in the Waterberg District.
Yesterday, a statement by the police indicated that the man is 31 years old, however, in a statement sent out today, the man is said to be 38 years old.
It was also revealed that the man is a Mozambican national who stayed in Springs, where he was ultimately arrested by a team of detectives.
“The man appeared in the Phalala Magistrate’s Court in Lephalale today, 18 February. He was denied bail and his case was postponed to 25 February for formal bail application and further police investigations,” Ngoepe added.
A manhunt for the remaining robbers is still underway and anyone with information that can lead to their arrest, may contact Col Malesela Mogale at 071 479 2329.

LIMPOPO – One of the six suspects involved in the house robbery of the Waterberg Municipality’s Mayor on Sunday night has been arrested.
Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the 31-year-old man was arrested by a team of detectives at his hideout in Gauteng.
“It is believed that four, unknown, armed men accompanied by two women, were driving in three cars which stopped at the gate of the mayor’s house. They asked the security guard to see the mayor but before he could respond, they attacked him, entered the house and tied everybody up who was inside,” Ngoepe explained.
The robbers searched the house, stole a Toyota bakkie and fled the scene.
“The bakkie was later found abandoned along the Lebu road in the Tomburke policing area, outside Lephalale,” he added.
According to Ngoepe, the robbers disappeared with a white Toyota Fortuner, a navy blue VW Polo and another unidentified car.
“The security guard was taken to hospital with serious injuries,” he said.
A manhunt for the remaining robbers is still underway and anyone with information that can lead to their arrest, may contact Col Malesela Mogale at 071 479 2329.

The man will appear before the Phalala Magistrate’s Court soon.
