Local lady ‘shakes’ up her summer and wins a new set of wheels

Mbulaheni Mmbooi has been a loyal Vodacom Shake-off contestant since 2019 and recently walked away with a brand-new Mini Cooper.

LIMPOPO – Mbulaheni Mmbooi from Dzimaulwi Ha-Rambuda shines on the Vodacom ShakeOff when she walks away with a brand-new Mini Cooper.

The 27-year-old is the second Mini Cooper winner, and has been a loyal contestant, shaking daily since 2019. She recently joined the My Vodacom App, where she could see all the progress she made that eventually led up to her grand prize of a brand-new car.

She said she was elated when she heard news, but felt the absence of her mother, who had recently passed away after she just buried her father three months ago.

“I started playing shake off while they were still using USSD, I hardly remember which year it was. But my aim was to win data and I never thought it could lead me to winning a Mini Cooper hatchback,” said Mbooi.

She said she was so used to calling for help or hiring cars when it was needed, that the new car will help her family and community a lot.

“You are rewarded for taking part, that’s always good to remember. It is also just a game and you never know when your luck will strike,” she said.

Jorge Mendes (Vodacom Consumer Business, Chief Officer) hands over the key to Mbulaheni Mmbooi.

Vodacom Consumer Business, Chief Officer, Jorge Mendes says South Africans have their own distinctive set of socio-economic challenges.

“This means our customers are looking to brands like ours to provide meaningful solutions that ease their daily lives and offer financial relief. We believe that this Mini Cooper will make a huge difference in this customers life,” said Mendes.
