Man crashes into wall following police chase in Polokwane; R100K worth of drugs confiscated

The man, believed to be 34 years old, is known for selling drugs in Penina Park.

Members of the Saps Limpopo Highway Patrol Team were patrolling the city of Polokwane on Friday, when they received information about a man selling drugs in Penina Park.

At around 02:00, police spotted the man’s motor vehicle at a local filling station and, according to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, he sped off.

“Police gave chase and he was arrested in the city after his vehicle crashed into a wall,” he said. Ngoepe told Observer that the man is believed to be 34 years old.

Various drugs with an estimated street value of more than R100 000 was found hidden inside the vehicle.

Meanwhile, three other men, were arrested in the Motetema and Lebowakgomo policing areas for possession and dealing in drugs.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba, applauded the members for the performance displayed during these operations and urged the police to continue strengthening community participation in the fight against crime.

The men are expected to appear in various magistrate’s courts soon, Ngoepe concluded.
