LIMPOPO – The Department of Transport and Community Safety are urging motorists to check the condition of their vehicles before embarking on their journey, following the death of two people on the R81 near Mooketsi.
The department’s Media Liason Officer, Mike Maringa said the driver of the taxi they were travelling in, lost control and the vehicle overturned.
“The incident happened at around 13:00 and it is believed that the taxi’s tyre burst. Two men, between the age of 25 and 30, were certified dead on the scene,” he added.
Maringa said three others were critically injured, while another four sustained serious injuries.
“The injured were rushed to Kgapane Hospital and the taxi was travelling from Giyani to Gauteng,” he said.
Maringa called on motorists to drive with caution and drive within the prescribed speed limits.
