Current water supply to city ‘far below water demand’

Water supply interruptions are being experienced in various parts of the municipality as reservoir levels continue to drop.

POLOKWANE – All storage reservoirs within the Polokwane municipal area are at 0% due to less water being supplied to the area.

In a statement, the Polokwane Municipality explained that the city is currently receiving insufficient water supply from the two main sources which are operated by Lepelle Northern Water (LNW). “The inflow is observed at lower flow rates into our reservoirs and this falls far blow the water demand or water use patterns,” reads the statement.

They added that water supply interruptions are being experienced in various parts of the municipality as reservoir levels continue to drop.

The municipality is in liaison with LNW on the matter. In the meantime areas that are affected will be provided with relief measures through water tankers.
