Wife shot during quarrel: Cops launch manhunt for husband

The Provincial Police Commissioner has ordered the police to hunt down and bring to book, a 63-year-old man who reportedly shot and and killed his 55-year-old wife.

LIMPOPO – The police in Malamulele are investigating the murder of a 55-year-old woman who was shot and killed during an incident in Mbhalati village outside Giyani over the weekend.

It is alleged the woman was shot by her husband on Saturday, 6 February during an apparent argument.

According to Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe a quarrel reportedly ensued between the suspect and the deceased (his second wife) at about 19:30. “It is alleged the suspect then produced a firearm and shot the her several times. She died on the scene.” Ngoepe added that police were alerted to the incident. “

On arrival the police were informed that the suspect had already fled the scene. They also found the found and confiscated a firearm that was allegedly used in the murder.

Preliminary police investigations reveals that the motive for the incident may be related to domestic violence.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspect and anyone with information that can lead to his arrest, can contact Lt Col Thifhelimbilu Makunge at 082 729 0229. Alternatively they can also contact the 24-hour Crime Stop number at 0860010111 or the nearest Police or MySAPSApp.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba has condemned this incident and has since directed that the suspect be hunted down until he is brought to book.

Police investigations are still continuing.
