Seshego, parts of city in the dark following thunderstorm

Polokwane Municipality is liaising with Eskom to resolve the matter at hand

POLOKWANE – The electricity supply has been switched off as an emergency measure to allow Eskom technicians to fix the 66kv overhead line that was struck by lightening during the recent storm.

In an update, the Polokwane Municipality says that the feeder line needs to be fixed in order to prevent further damage to the electrical network feeding the city and Seshego.

All areas that were affected earlier will again be switched off to allow for urgent repairs to be made to the overhead line.

They added that the matter is receiving urgent attention and updates will be provided once available.

POLOKWANE – Most parts of the city and surrounding areas have been left in the dark following an earlier thunderstorm.

According to a press release sent via the municipal communications office, the entire Seshego and a huge area in the city are experiencing power supply disruption due to outage from a feeder line from Eskom’s side.

Reports suggest that a power line was damaged during the storm and the electrical team is busy liaising with Eskom on the matter.

Dikgabane Hilton Rampedi, Spokesperson for Eskom says the Pietersburg 66kv breaker has tripped. “Our technicians are busy looking for the fault and there is no estimated restoration time as yet.”
