Nelson stands up for the vulnerable and needy

Paledi village resident, Nelson Ramogale, is a man with a big heart. The 33-year-old says he is passionate about uniting the community and helping the powerless. He is doing this through the Mankweng Community Forum (MCF), which he formed in 2020.

“Growing up as a village boy, I noticed how fellow community members struggled to meet daily needs such as water, electricity and good sanitation. I vowed to one day help lead my community in the right direction and help them meet those needs.”

It was during his studies in animal production at the Tshwane University of Technology when he developed a love for what he calls “standing up for those who cannot speak for themselves” and he joined student movement groups.

Upon completing his qualification, he moved back home and found that the very same community struggles and challenges that he had left behind still persisted.

He then gathered people and together, MCF was created.

“We went to the then leaders of the community to seek advise, and they suggested a group that would meet every Friday to discuss and resolve grievances faced in the community.”

Since its inception, MCF has helped matriculants apply and register at the University of Limpopo and they have found employment for more than 50 local residents at the Mankweng Hospital.
