Limpopo police launch search operation for mom, daughter (7)

The mother, who reportedly has a mental disability, left her home and took her child with her, without informing anyone about her destination.

LIMPOPO – A search operation has been launched by Mokwakwaila police, outside Tzaneen, for 30-year-old Maphefo Caroline Rathupetjane (pictured above) and her 7-year-old daughter, Thapelo Selina.

According to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Const Maphure Manamela, the two went missing on Monday, 25 January.

“The woman left her home, at Ga-Matipane village, with her daughter at about 18:30. She left without informing anyone about her destination and they have since disappeared,” Manamela explained.

Manamela added that the mother reportedly has a mental disability.

“There is no information about the type of clothes she was wearing at the time of her disappearance and, unfortunately, a picture of the child is not available,” she said.

A police search operation was conducted at her relatives and nearby areas, with no success.

“Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the two should contact Det WO Nakampe Rabothata at 060 996 0062 or Sergt Tinyiko Manganye at 079 890 6570. Alternatively, they can contact the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or their nearest police station,” she added.

Investigations and the search operation are still continuing, Manamela concluded.
