Muni: Yet another leak on Ebenezer line

The latest stoppage comes hours after pumping to the city resumed after the team from Lepelle Northern Water, repaired a burst pipe at Mentz outside Mankweng.

POLOKWANE – Water supply from the Ebenezer water scheme has yet again been stopped due to a leak. 

Thipa Selala, Spokesperson for Polokwane Municipality says Lepelle Northern Water just notified them that pumping of water to the city and surround areas has been stopped due to a leak along the Ebenezer pipeline.

“This stoppage will have negative impact on the-already-strained reservoir levels and water supply to various areas within the municipality.”

He added that the LNW team is working on repairing the leak. “In the meantime, water tankers will be deployed to affected areas to provide temporary water relief.”

POLOKWANE – Reservoir levels in the city are still under strain as a result of challenges experienced by Lepelle Northern Water’s Ebenezer water scheme.

This morning Thipa Selala, Municipal Spokesperson repairs to the pipeline in Mentz outside Mankweng were only concluded in the early hours of this morning. “The team from LNW initially estimated repairs to take five hours, however, an update received this morning stated that the repairs were completed at 02:31 this morning.”

He added that these onging water supply disruptions has left most of the city and surrounding areas with low water pressure or no water supply. This morning the Potgieter and Krugersburg 50ml, 30ml reservoirs are at 0%.

“The challenge on the Ebenezer line has affected Segwashi, Boyne, Badimong, Mankweng, Sebayeng, Ga-Dikgale, Segopye, Ga-Mothapo, Makotopong, Lastehoop, Dalmada and City.”  He reminded residents that water supply to the city will still take some time to reach all affected areas because the pipeline was empty.
