Kagiso Kale murder case to resume in March

The Gr 12 learner was stabbed to death in a village outside Mokopane on 3 September 2020.

LIMPOPO – The accused in the murder of 18-year-old Kagiso Kale appeared in the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court in Mahwelereng on 28 January and the case was postponed to March.

Kale was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend at her house in Ga-Madiba village on 3 September 2020. According to the police, Kale was found with multiple stab wounds. Her 19-year-old boyfriend was arrested shortly after the incident and has been in custody since then.

At the time of the murder South Africans took to Twitter, calling for decisive action to be taken by the government to stop the scourge of gender-based violence (GBV) in the country.

In tweets South Africans asked for GBV to come to an end and for the President, Cyril Ramaphosa, to act before it is to late. Some users have even gone as far as to ask that the death penalty is brought back for those found guilty of crimes against women and children.

In court today family and community members of the late Kale called for no bail to be granted to the accused. “We want justice,” was the message that was sent out. The accused is expected to appear for formal bail application on Thursday, 11 March, and the suspect was remanded in custody.
