Limpopo’s Covid-19 cases near 55 000 mark

As of 26 January the number of Covid-19 deaths stand at 1 027. Here is a breakdown of positive, active cases and deaths recorded in each municipality:

LIMPOPO – According the Limpopo Health Department’s latest statistics, as of 26 January, there are 4 149 active cases of Covid-19 in the province. The number of cumulative cases is 54 428, of which 49 252 people have recovered.

The department notes that to date, 1 027 people have died. In the last 24 hours, the province saw an increase of 297 cases.

The Sekhukhune district had the most new cases (74), followed by Capricorn (72), Waterberg (60), Vhembe (46) and Mopani (45).

Polokwane recorded the most new cases (54) while Fetakgomo/Tubatse had 40 new cases and Greater Tzaneen had  28 new cases. Thus far, 188 127 tests have been conducted of which 124 222 were done by the private sector and 78 168 were done by the public sector.
