POLOKWANE – A sinkhole on the R81 road near Ga-Sekgopo between Polokwane and Mooketsi, had led to the road’s closure.
Department of Transport and Community Safety Spokesperson, Matomi Moremi-Taueatsoala said the sinkhole is due to heavy flooding in the Buffelsberg area and the road will be closed until further notice.
Motorists are advised to use the alternative R36 Morebeng/Soekmekaar road when travelling between Polokwane and Mooketsi.
“Muddy and slippery road conditions have also been reported along the R36 and motorists are advised to approach any obstruction with caution.
“The team from the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure are on the scene to clear obstructions,” he added.
