Muni deploys water tankers to provide relief

Most of the city's reservoirs are sitting at 0% after the Ebenezer scheme stopped pumping water to the city.

On Sunday, Lepelle Northern Water informed the municipality about a stoppage at the Ebenezer plant due to power outages in the area.

Reservoir levels with the city are at this stage at their lowermost and this unplanned disruption has left the majority at 0% full, says Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala.

“This morning’s water supply readings from Ebenezer Scheme indicated that the scheme is not pumping water to Polokwane areas of supply. This challenge has left most areas without water supply. As a result, water tankers will continue to provide relief to affected areas.”

Lepelle Northern Water team will provide updates in terms of progress in resolving power dips affecting the Ebenezer line.
